a quick seafoam question

LOOK AT THE PIC ABOVE
i first took off the cover to the vacuum tree and i unhooked the hose right there(the blue arrow) and poored it in from that opening going down the short hose..and once i disconnected it the engine started to run rough and as soon as i put 1/3 in the engine cut off by itself..
the when i turn the engine back on after about 10 min the smoke did come out and i gave the engine a good beating just sitting there then i realized that the check engine light came on..
did i mess up or did i do things right

You don't 'pour it in', you slurp it in through a small line that you add to a capped offbranch on the vacuum tree. Without the IAC valve hooked up I honestly don't know what you should expect to happen, I have never done it before.
You likely have some misfire codes or something. Just have them read and cleared at a nearby chain auto parts store. Hopefully you didn't hydraulic lock one or more cylinders. Air compresses, liquids don't.

^+1 for Lee's response... your picture points to the large hose. You're supposed to pick one of the small ports underneath that large hose, not that large hose. I say what Lee says... don't know if that will be a problem. I just did mine with a small length of hose attached to one of the plugged nipples on that tree. No codes thrown, no lights came on.
crap..i have been trying to get people to tell me the exact hose threw pictures cause there are 4 hoses off that vacuum tree..and most people said "put it in any hose on that tree"..
well now i know
thanks guys
i hope i didnt screw anything up..i am just ur average dude trying to keep my baby in tip top shape..tryin to learn
