Seafoam!!!

Seafoam!!!
Ok here's my testimony to the Seafoam phenomena. After reading about it at other forums I decided to go for it. But first here's where I'm coming from...I've had the car for three weeks and since bringing it home it developed (or already had) a very intermittant loud lifter noise in the #5 and 6 exhaust cam area. After much research I, one-pulled the pan and replaced all the o-rings (pain in the butt!), two- had the engine pumped with cleaner ($150 but well worth it) and both didn't remedy the noise. Today I bought some Seafoam, hooked up a hose to the vacuum tree, and sucked up some Seafoam (about 3/4 of the can on accident, beware cranking engine sucks fast!!!). So i let it sit for ten or so minutes and then started her up. At first it was a little difficult to start but then it took off and smoked for a good 15 mins at idle until I drove it for another 10-15 until it stopped smoking. I noticed when i did start it the valve noise got REALLY loud and then slowly subsided. But all in all I haven't heard the intermittant noise yet like i normally do. Tomorrow AM will be the true test because usually it is loud for the first 20 mins of driving and then goes random. But so far NO VALVE LIFTER NOISE!!! This is one of those thing I wish I would have know in the first place!
Anyway, I'll probably do some in the oil later on and continue to do it in the intake as "maintenance" forever. The only downside is you have to reset codes afterward.

RE: Seafoam!!!
Hi Ocotillo
I tried Seafoam over the weekend, just poured 1/2 in the gas tank and 1/2 in the crankcase, I noticed a huge improvements on valve noise and smoother power. I am going to try the vacuum line method this coming weekend, I never done it before so I need your expert advice. I have a 85 740 Volvo with a non-turbo engine.
Which vacuum line should I pick?
Do I need any special tools to pull off the vacuum lines?
Any special tips for a newbie like myself.
Thank you in advance,
John

RE: Seafoam!!!
There's a black cover that is held in place by one torx screw that is over the throttle body. If you remove that, you'll find a vacuum tree. There are a few extra ports on the tree which are capped. Remove a cap and place hose on there...
