aftermarket kenwood eXcelon radio mysteriously started turning off and on while on the highway and ONLY when going over bumps. during a 1.5 hour drive session, i went over ~30 bumps and the radio power cycled 3 times.

dash lights, headlights, brake lights unaffected. i did notice that when going over a bump, sometimes the parking brake light would come on.. at least i think thats the light it was. it was located in the far right corner of my cluster where the warning lights are (if that makes sense).

the parking brake light has always been finnecky, as sometimes when i have the brake on it wont light up unless i wiggle it around.

anywho

was chitchatting with the wife about it and she said that the last time she ran into something similar was in her mercury topaz about 10 years ago. that issue turned out to be the alternator, but in her case all of her lights were flickering.

in my case, none of the lights flicker. the radio just turns off, then immediately back on.

ive had this radio for a good 5 years, so im thinking it might just be on its way out. going to check grounds and hot wires tomorrow when the sun comes up.
