Hey all, I think the previous owner of my Volvo never put a gasket on the valve cover. I am doing my own work to the car and noticed a light coating, like a misting, of oil across the top of the engine. So I took off like a million screws to find that there is no gasket. So I panicked and then cursed him and went to my local auto parts place and they handed me a tube of sealer?????? What the .......? Volvos don't have gaskets? Any info would be helpful. I figure I'll just clean everything up and try the sealer. If that doesn't work, I'll start again. Thanks, H-

 

They use the chemical gasket to seal the CAM COVER.

Be very careful installing it and make sure you torque them to the proper specs or it will lock the cams up.

Make sure you use the Volvo sealer not some off name stuff. It's around $25 a tube.
