Default rear brake rotor removal

I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for help on replacing the rear rotors and pads on a 1995 850. My college student son, who lives in another city, needs to replace the parts by himself because he can't afford to pay a mechanic. Between my two sons, they can do the job themselves but they could use some step-by-step instructions. I've done many brake jobs on a variety of cars, but never an 850. I assume it's pretty basic but I've run into some oddball problems over the years and I don't want to lead my boys down the wrong path.

I did a writeup in this thread. It was more specific to changing the parking brake shoes but the same steps apply for changing out the pads and the rotors.

Lee:

I'm sending the link to my son. I'm positive my sons can do the job easily. Pics, as always, are much appreciated. Now if I could just get my son to graduate!

You guys have an excellent forum.

Many thanks.

By the way, I work for the Wichita Eagle newspaper and I'm preparing to write a story about John ***, one of the first Volvo mechanics in the U.S. He's a tremendous guy and a local Volvo legend.

Yes, I'll post a link when it publishes. We have a page every Sunday devoted to car culture in the Wichita area. The story is written, I just need to decide when to run it.
