Default Rear rotor removal

trying to replace the rear rotors on my 96 850, Ive got bolt that holds the rotor in off, along with the caliper. I can't figure out what is holding the rotor on. my theory is that the ebrake is somehow holding it on. When i tried to adjust the ebrake manually from inside nothing really happened. Please get back to me asap. TIA

You need to back the star adjuster off so as to get the parking brake shoes past the "rust ring" on the inside lip of the drum part of the shoe. It is a bearcat to actually find the star adjuster through the hole in the face of the rotor. This might help:

I did a writeup on rear brakes here that has some other tidbits:

You might try lightly tapping the rotor with a rubber mallet too. Sometimes they get some corrosion that makes them stick to the hub

Mine were rusted on like no tomorrow. I don't think they had been touched in 7-8 years, and the car was in NH the whole time. I hit it over and over and over and finally they came off after a good 5 mins of wacking. It had nothing to do with the parking brake in my case. Put some anti seize on the hub when you put the new ones on if you want them to come off easily next time.

volvo is smarter then the averager automaker, the little star spinney thing you have to adjust to loosen the Ebrake shoes to remove your rotor is made of aluminum and not steel like some other auomakers so you shuld be able to free it and remove the rotor. I've seen some others tgat are made with steel and they sieze together and hey make remoal(loosening) impossible!

Good Luck!

The pinsjust tap out from the outside caliper. A punch makes it a little easier but I have used a nail before.
