Default Rear wheel won't turn

My friend gave me an 1995 850 wagon.
Last night I went to move the car and the solid red light was lit, and when I went to back out heard horrible squealing noise, then put it in drive and it felt like the rear drivers wheel wasn't moving-then the ABS light and the TRACS light came on.

This am I tried it again as i thought maybe there was some freezing (I'm in Maine), now the tracs & abs lights are off, the car is smooth in reverse out of the driveway, but going forward the wheel won't turn still and it's making a loud noise.
Any thoughts?

Maybe something to do with the E brake. Broke and got lodged in there or something.

There is a red light when the e-brake is on.

These are free spinning wheels so there is only four things that can stop it.
1. Caliper is frozen
2. E-brake malfunction
3. Frozen wheel bearing
4. An animal wedged in the wheel well (made that up)

Freezing does not mean cold, it means locked up, rusted, seized.

LOL. A very good possibility. After taking my car to my cabin one weekend, I tried leaving to go home and passenger rear wheel wouldn't budge, kind of like what you are experiencing. Got out and looked to see if there was anything obstructing the path way or something, nothing, but there was a full grown buck that got himself tangled in my wheel and axle.

I made that up too. I wanted to play.

Thanks Boxpin--argh I can't remember on the eb--is there a way to check which one of the things you listed is it? Does it sound expensive to fix any of them?
Thanks--

None of those things are that bad price wise. Jack up the car and see if the wheel sprins freely or not. If it doesn't, take off the wheel and do a little inspecting.

Exactly, jack up the car and see if the wheel spins. If it doesn't, then take the wheel off and remove the brake caliper. See if the wheel will spin. If it doesn't, then take the rotor off and see if the wheel bearing spins. If the bearing doesn't spin, then the bearing is shot. If the bearing spins, but the rotor by itself didn't, then the e-brake is the issue. If the rotor spun, then it is an issue with the brake caliper.

You should be able to figure it out from what i just typed out.
