Rearview mirror - how to remount?
My 850's rearview popped out of the ceiling mount and I can't figure out how to get the ceiling lights out to remove the shroud that surrounds the lights. I see a couple screws holding it to the ceiling up front and the metal spring tabs at the rear but I can't figure out how to get the light lenses out of the way.
And then, how does the mirror mount to it's hold? I can see two roller pins in the screw-head receptacle but what's the trick there?
Thanks

The clear lenses just pop out. Then remove the 2 small torxes screws.
The assembly should come out then.
Next remove the block that usually holds the mirror. It is 2 Torxes 30 screws.
Then remove the srew from the mirror (Phillips) then put the mirror back into the block. The screw holds up against the 2 bars to hold it in there. Volvo calls it a break away mirror to help prevent injury during accident.

This happened to me when I was carrying a very large long cardboard box- empty- but when I closed the rear door the box was pushed into the mirror. I thought I broke it- didn't take long to correct once I knew how.
I too had a cardboard box pop my rear view mirror on my 99v70 wagon. This advice gave me the confidence to try the repair myself and it worked. Word of advice to the novice, on the unusual screws you will encounter use an allen wrench. Thank you.
