I was wondering has ne1 done recalls to their volvos? I am not sure is it worth doing...i never done a recall before has anyone had really bad outcomes? My car is running ok right now but I am scared after bringing it to them the car will have more problems...

I would get them done.
The fuel tank one can lead to a leaking tank if not done.

The heated seat one can lead to the seat catching fire if not done.

The only real problems I have had with Volvo dealerships is that they are too expensive, but for the most part do good work. In the case of recalls the will not cost you anything, so you should have them done. Especially since both are safety issues.

I went in for an Oil change in September of last year at Fields Volvo and had no Idea there was even a recall. While the oil was being changed, the swervice advisor ran my VIN without me knowing, since I had just gotten the 850 and no one had done the recall. Took maybe 10 minutes to inspect the tank and they changed out some fuel line bushings.. That was it! Funny enough, I was getting a gas smell when it was parked overnight in the garage! That took care of that....

The gas tank shield recall actually expired 12/31/2008 but after a lot of bitching they extended it to 12/31/2009.

Well recall 112 and 140 was done...and now the heated seats 'work' I am not sure but it takes 4ever for it to heat up...is it normal?

Also I am not sure was anything done to the gas tank since when i parked today I could still hear drips...(nothing on the floor any ideas what it could be, coolant is fine, brake fluid can't really tell as of yet)

Were you running the A/C?

The heated seats take a few to heat up.

I bought my 96 850 a year ago and the person I bought it from did not tell me the gas tank was leaking fuel, so i could only fill the tank up half way. After six months i decided to drop the gas tank and locate the leak, hopping to find a leaky hose on top of the gas tank. but the top of the tank was bone dry. i found the the leak comming from the rear of the tank where the rubber mounts attach to the heat shield. so I went to auto zone and found a fuel tank repair kit. i patched it up and filled the tank and the tank was still leaking. so I dropped the tank again and found a second leak comming from the left side of the tank again where the heat shield is attached. so back to auto zone and repaired the second leak. After I filled the gas tank I found my tank was still leaking from the same areas. So I did some reseach and found out there was a recall on the fuel tank. I took the car to the dealer and after they dropped the gas tank they said they had good news and bad news. the good news they were going to warranty the gas tank and replace it free of charge, but the bad news is that i had another leak comming from the fuel pump (which is lie because I dropped the gas tank and top of the tank and around the fuel pump was bone dry with two inches of dust.) so they quoted me $550.00 to replace the fuel tank. I told them there is no way I was paying $550 for them to replace a fuel pump that was working fine and was not leaking. I told them to only replace the fuel tank and leave my fuel pump as it was. they told me they could not do it because of the it was unsafe. So after making a big stink and requesting for them to give me the new fuel tank and i replace it myself they finally said they could do it but i had to tow the car off their lot. So they replaced the tank and I have no leaks at all. So take it to the dealer and have them replace the tank. and dont let them rip you off.
