Default RECALL: Headlight Switch

I just got a recall notice to replace the Headlight Switch. Apparently the old one might fail and Volvo is inspecting and replacing the switch. Did they do some drastic redesign of the switch? I actually had to replace mine a year, or so, ago. The switch was intermittent, like the contacts were bad. I am basically trying to figure out if the switch I replaced it with is going to fail as well.

It might fail again later on.What happened is the plastic was thin and breaking.Where the front and back peices of the switch go together. They supposedly fixed it.The warranty came out about 4 to 5 years ago.It covered the 850 and S70.You might just want to have the recall done to be safe.

Thanks, I will do that. Maybe I can get Volvo to send me the switch, the nearest dealer is 75 miles away. I really don't want to drive down there for a 10 min switch swap.

I contacted Volvo. They will not send me a new switch. The recall has to be done by an authorized dealer to meet the NHTSA rules.

Thats what I thought. When you go to the dealership and have it done ask if you can have the old one.Sometimes they won't care and will give it to you.You might also be able to get reimbersed for the repair since you payed for it once.As long as you have the receipt they might reimburse you.But you won't get the new switch.

Either or what ever you wanted to do.
