Default Remote Door Lock Upgrade...

My 960 and our S70 have remote locks that does the drivers door 1st then all the other doors. Has anyone tried to upgrade a 850 with the newer controls?

I do not know anyone that has tried to upgrade the system in the 850. Not sure why you would really want to.

Really sounds like a pain in the rear to do. I doubt there is any sort of plug-n-play method.

Next time I'm at the yard, I'll see if the parts look like they can be interchanged. As mentioned in the initial post, it would be nice for the drivers door to operate indipendant of the others. I'm afraid some woman will jump in the other side of the car when I get in and try to take advantage of me physically. LOL

I had driver's door priority in the keyless on our civic and I hated it. i'd always look like a choad for unlocking my door and forgetting to unlock the other ones. I think that in order to have that, you'd probably have to go aftermarket for your keyless entry. The place I used to work did them all the time and on all kinda of cars. We had a GREAT installer though, who knew how to do pretty much anything with it came to car electrical systems. He's a great tinter, too. He still does all my vehicles and all my friends' vehicles.

RSPI,

This is an interesting post/questions. I own a '96 850 T Platinum and it came with the key fob and remote access door locks. When you hit the unlock, it unlocks the driver door, and you have to hit it again to unlock the other doors, including the tailgate (wagon model). I also have noticed if you just unlock the drivers door, and lets say you don't open the door, after a short while the door relocks itself.

This is the same thing my wifes 2000 GTI does. When you unlock and don't open the door, it relocks itself.

OBTW, Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I have an 850 Turbo Platinum and it unlocks the driver door with one press of the button and the rest of the doors with another press, maybe just the platinums do this?

Well, my 960 & S70 does the same thing. I'm wondering if I get a 960 control box & a 960 remote will it work in my 850 the same way.

One thing I DO NOT like about my 960 is, when I unlock with my remote, it will lock back after 30 seconds, even if I open the drivers door. I have to open another door to stop this from happening. Very easy to lock my keys IN THE CAR.

The 93,94, and 95 850 have single stage locking. The newer cars have dual stage locking.
They are a totally different setup between the 2 cars.

The 850 has the control box thingy behind the glove box. Not sure where it is on the S70's and 960 series. What you are saying is that the boxes that control the newer cars will NOT work in the older '95- cars??? Just can't swap that box and have the newer style locking system...

You could always go aftermarket. by the time you tweak everything from swapping one from a 70 series, you'd probably spend less time goin aftermarket.
