Default Remote Entry Problem

Hi!

My remote entry has gone dead - [:@]. Central locking works with the key. Changed the battery on the remote key fob, checked all the obvious fuses, tried the 5 on/off thingy with the doors locked and a cold bottle of bud. I did notice that the RED led on the dash doesn't light anymore. Any thoughts on what the problem is?

TIA,
Rosa (newbie)

Did you check and see if there is a fuse for the system?

The relay might have gone bad.
Not sure of to much about the system. Most people never want to spend the $$$ to get it fixed.

Had a look at the relevant fuses in the fuse box in the engine compartment and they all check out fine. Is there another fuse somewhere? Where would the relay be located for the system?

Thanks!

The red LED is connected to the alarm system to show it has been activated.

You haven't said the year of your car so I have taken one from the middle:

The alarm relay is #14 on the central electric unit.
Central locking relay is #11 on the CEU.
Fuse #2 covers the alarm system.
Fuse #6 the central lock and alarm.
Fuse #32 the remote central locking system.

On other year cars there may be a slight difference in the position of the fuses.

The relay is under the dash in the box like right under where the fuse box is under the hood.

The fuse box actually goes through the firewall into the car.
