I have intermittently problems with the overhead lighting not comming on the and the keyless entry not functioning.

Have you changed the battery in the keyless remote?

 

Yes just a couple of weeks ago. Everything was working great for a week or so, after a long period of not working, and then bang it quit again. The car is kept in the garage so it's not locked at night. My wife went to go to work and no overhead interior lights and couldn't lock it at work with the key FOB.

 

Put the key in the switch and turn it to acc or on, do not start it. Take the remote and cycle between lock and unlock several times. I think you then either start the car or turn it off and start it but this should fix your problem.
