In Canada it is illegal to run with out a CAT. If you get pulled over for an inspection they will tow your car. Also if you have to go to the garage they wont work on it. If (you did) then you would most definately see an increase in power. (better flow) I am not sure what kind of damage this may cause. You would be polluting alot more. I would give it some thought before I cut it off. Just my opion.

Why not purchase an aftermarket catalytic convertors? They are not as expensive as OEM. They are less restrictive for better performance.

Our cars require an ODB-II computer compliant catalytic converter for cars licensed in California.

I am familiar with several brands of 2 1/2 inch or 3 inch high-flow catalytic converters in order to upgrade our exhaust systems. So far, only DynaMax and Magnaflow aftermarket catalytic converters are OBD-II Compliant.

I cannot find any info stating that this cat-converter is ODB-II compliant in California.

Many sellers of converters over the internet DO NOT USE OBD II compliant converters...so buyer beware!! Discount Converters, Ltd uses only OBD II approved converters in all so designated vehicles.

Please note that aftermarket catalytic converters are not legal for installation in California on OBD II vehicles (some 1994 & 1995, and all 1996 and later vehicles

Car Sound Exhaust System, LLC., the parent company of MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust is a world leader in the manufacturing of automotive catalytic converters. The production and design techniques of our catalytic converters contribute to Car Sound’s standing as the highest quality and best-valued products on the market.

MagnaFlow's California 43000 Catalytic Converters are the first series of a new line of converters designed for use on vehicles equipped with Second Generation On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) systems. They are designed, tested, and catalogued for specific vehicles. They are not traditional universal converters. These converters have higher efficiency than conventional strict California requirements for conversion efficiency and durability. These converters are warranted for 5 years or 50,000 miles on the converter body and 5 years on the performance of the internal catalyst, including replacement for OBDII diagnostic codes for low catalyst efficiency.
