So in all of the videos on the internet, the instructions state to remove a snap ring that holds the axle shaft into the outer CV joint. However on my 96 850, there is no snap ring. The shaft wiggles as if it’s being held by a snap ring, but I can’t see one anywhere. Does anyone know how to separate them?

 

I would recomend just buying complete axel from autozone or whatever. I just did mine last week. Replacing boots and packing grease sucks.

 

That’s what I ended up doing. Got a new set of the same brand that iPD sells for $150 on eBay.

They just arrived and I put them in. What should I do with the old ones? The new ones didn’t have a core charge, and I would hate to have to trash them.

 

Well i tossed mine in backseat of another 850 to get scraped. Isnt much to do with them. Let me know if you come up with any ideas
