Tech,
I did the job and disconnected the battery too but somehow the SRS light is on now. Any way I can turn it off?

Thanks, Guy
I'm in Louisville, Ky. We have Autozone auto parts what seems to be about every 5 miles. They have OBD scanners and will check for codes free. Let them run the scan and when he tells you the code for the SRS just tell him the repairs you did and ask him to reset it.

Probably have to go to the Dealer to get the SRS light reset.

Usually the Auto Zone scanners only read teh engine codes and thats all.

Hey now Tech ,

Would you be so kind as to tell me what the wattage/voltage or part numbers of the bulbs might be as I have just found out that my trip display can be lit up and I have one of the bulbs in the display, center upper left - if that makes any sense?!?!, has gone out.

I decided that this is something that I could probably do in a cuople of hours or less. I like to take my time and don't want to screw anything up as that usually costs memore [sm=smiley36.gif]. And I'll take [sm=Flahssssss.gif]of my work.

Sorry that the shot of the dash is a little fuzzy [sm=smiley29.gif]and I'm still working on my signature so please bare with [sm=smiley20.gif].

It'll get better.

I have some bulbs out that lite the switches on the lower left side of my dash. Is this the way to access them as well? The power lock switch is one of them.

The trip computer bulbs are soldered into a socket. Osram makes a replacement socket and bulb. I will try to get a pic posted tomorrow and part#
The bulbs that light the speedo and rest of the upper guages are 194 bulbs like the taglights.

For the switches some of the bulbs can be replaced from the back of the switch.

Hey Tech

I was planning on this project soon myself. Sounds like you said, just remove some screws. My question is what about the clock bulb? My is out too. Is that just bulbs or are they soldered?
Thanks

The clock bulbs are inside sockets. (soldered)
They are not the 194 bulbs like the rest of them are.

Whew.... took off the dash pad yesterday (with my girlfriend on the wrench too) to do 2 things...

1. Replace all of the bulbs because 1/2 of them had gone out - they were still bright enough to do the job but still lame.

and

2. Change out my trip computer because I picked one up from someone on the forums and thought it would work. Well, my '95 850 GLT 2.4L N/A doesn't seem to use this part number.

6849308 is the one I purchased and was going to put in.

On the stock one, I SHOULD HAVE written the number down, or at least taken a photo... but I didn't - dumb of me. I can tell you that has the clock and the thermometer on it.

Apparently they have different cable connections so I couldn't put the trip computer in. Anyone know where I can find out what part number I need? I have the Yazaki instrument cluster.

But I was able to change out the bulbs, and that is pretty sweet. I changed the 4 main bulbs (bulb #158) and 23 of the other small ones (bulb #74) - noticing that there were some slots that didn't even have bulbs in them - strange... maybe I don't have the electrical system to light these bulbs? (Actually, reading my owner's manual shows that some of them are "not in use" so I guess I have 4 or 5 bulbs in there that will never light up - guess they're spares).

But I did take the "service" light out - so I won't be paying Volvo anymore to clear that out.

Oh, and I have another question if anyone knows it - the light for the auto gear shifter - where can I purchase that? I dug into there as well because that bulb is burned out and I found it - but I guess it's soldered into a small plastic housing that snaps into the wire. Did some internet searching and couldn't find anything on that light - looks like it's commonly used in the car too, saw an identical one on the cigarette lighter.

Thanks.

Good to hear that your tackling all the good jobs.

I have a 1994 with a bit over 316,000km on it and I haveseveral lights out and would like to get the part numbers from you as I think that will be my next job.

Just finished painting the handles on The Anvil and I am going to change the sig. pic to show it off a bit.

It may be the way that I loaded them butthe progression of the pics seem backward.

You get the idea though.

The shot below is way before paint.

Hey, I edited my post a bit to include the part numbers for the bulbs I used, and the quantity purchased. I picked up the bulbs at Advance, Checker, and Autozone (each store only had 2 or 3 packs of the bulbs and I needed 11 or 12 packs). Luckily they price matched the $2.55 per 2-pack that I found at Advance.

I replaced the two bulbs behind my climate control ***** today.

While doing so I noticed that I couldn't get to the bulbs for the AC switch or the circulating fan switch. I took a photo of where I believe the bulbs are hiding and noticed that it seems to come apart. But couldn't figure out how exactly it comes apart - I got the clips off but couldn't pull it apart.

On the photo you're looking at the backside of the climate control section - I've marked some areas of interest so that you can establish your bearings.

While playing with it - I lost the piece on one of my climate control ***** that makes the clicking sound when you turn it - probably something I'm going to have to get at a junk yard though. Unless anyone knows where I can purchase one and save me the time looking. It's on the bottom of the ****, has a little white button looking thing.

Thanks for all the help.

Is that a MCC or ECC system?

Hmm.... MCC is manual right? Where I have the ***** and if I want it to be a certain temp I have adjust the ***** (basically mix the air temps) to get something I like?

ECC is electronic - set it and forget it?

I believe I have the MCC.

I will have to try to look at one at work and see how it comes apart.
MCC has colors for temps ECC has numbers for temp settings.

Then yes, it's an MCC system. Thanks for looking into it for me.

How much is the clock to replace? Mine is burned the F out.

I'm going to be doing a dash conversion to LED's soon.

I don't know what color to go with.

Probably cool white numbers with Blue needles.
