Default Replacing the axle Clamp on 95 Volvo GLT

I just found out that my left rear axle's "clamp" is broken. My left tire I guess bounces and the mechanic told me that it could slide right out and bascially fall of my car and cause damage (among other things).

Where do I look to buy a rear clamp? They said that is all I need. Is there another name for it?

And last, but not least...how difficult is this to replace. I know the mechanic will be expensive and it looks easy to repair by myself....but I would like some more experienced opinions.

Thank you.

Are you talking about the clamp that holds the inner boot on the axle?
If so it is not to bad to replace. But you might have to by a boot kit to get the clamp.

Default Replacing the axle Clamp on 95 Volvo GLT

Actually Tech...I found out what it is called. They (the mechanic) called it a "clamp". What it REALLY is...."Transverse Arm Mounting or Mount". Each side has one on the back end near the shocks. It holds the Suspension Transverse Arm in place. Other wise it bounces up and down with every bump like it was a toothbrush and you were brushing your teeth. They (the mechanic) said it would eventually slide out and my entire left side would fall off.

Now the actual mount or bracket is still there. Basically, it is making a "C"...not an "O" (holding it still).

Is this something I should be concerned about or is something I can let go for a while. Tried looking for that part in the after market place, but have not had any luck. Only need 1.

Thanks so much!

I will try or take a copy out of the Haynes Manual and scan it in.

Tech, I could not figure out how to load this up in "this" message, so I created an album...which only has one picture. I don't know how to attached the drawing of the transverse arm mounting, but I'm sure you will be able to look it up. My big question? Where can I get one, the mechanic couldn't find one in our area .

Thanks Tech!

Tech, I posted the picture of the transverse arm mounting to the "photo albums" in the forum. https://volvoforums.com/forum/album....pictureid=2267 Couldn't figure out how to attach it to this message. It is for SURE the Transverse Arm Mounting and the question is...where do I find one? The Mechanic called around and no one had one ....Getting nervous as I'm sure it is not real safe to be driving.

Thanks for all your help! I really appreciate it
