Default Replacing Expansion Tank

I have diagnosed my problem and should be receiving my new expansion tank and hose today, thanks for the help.

I read through a number of other threads and understand that this is a pretty simple swap and shouldn't have any problems. I saw in another thread that the cap should be replaced as well. Is this necessary? Is there an easy way to check my existing cap?

I'd replace the tank and see if there's any overheating problems before you swap the cap.

If you do replace it, do some research first; I read something awhile back that talked about a gray cap and a green cap. Seems they have different ratings and some people got one when they should have gotten the other - I just can't keep it straight in my head...

Green cap is the better one from what I've heard. There was a talk saying the gray one didn't hold the pressure or something that well.

That is correct. If you are going to end up needing the cap, order one of the green ones.

Done and done. Thanks for the tip. It looks like my cap is ok. I broke the blue wire on the darn sensor while I was changing the tank but was able to get a new on locally.
