Default Replacing The Starter

Hey guys...Does anyone here have pictures of replacing the starter? From what I've read, you have to remove either the fan shroud or the intake to get to it. I'm debating whether to try it myself or take it to a shop.

Easier to remove the fan shroud but easier to replace with the intake out.

Do it yourself. Once you get some room down there its not tough.

I'm about to tackle the same job, but my wife and car are 700 miles away. I have every tool possible, but my question is, what do I need to bring? I'll be flying there so the less I bring the better. Do you remember what you needed? I plan to remove the fan shroud rather than the intake.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

Cheers
-Scott

Check this out for what tools you need. It was actually a pretty easy job:

when i did mine i only removed the air box and associated hosing and was able to just reach down and maneuver it out without removing the intake or fan shroud. Tight area to work but possible.

I know its an old post but my advise for anyone who comes across it..

Pull the Intake manifold, and do you pcv while your there, the $100 for the parts is worth it especially if you have not done it in a while.

Just my 2 cents but with inflation these days its worth about 6.5 cents..

I am adding to my comments. Since I posted this I replaced a starter on an N/A without removing anything.
