I had the EGR valve cleaned yesterday. After I picked the car up the car was idling very rough so I returned to the shop. There was a vacuum hose disconnected and they put it back in. The mechanic said that a plastic piece was missing inside the hose so he couldn't really clamp it down. I have attached a picture of the hose/clamp in question. The problem is, that the car is still idling rough (not as bad as it was before though) and I don't have much faith in the mechanic. Anybody have any good advice what to do?

Is the EGR temp sensor connector secure?

I don't know. First I wanted to do the job myself but I am so busy between work renovating my house that I thought it might be better to have a pro do it. Guess I was wrong. I am really frustrated with this.

 

With an inspection mirror ( a few $ at Sears Craftsman) and a flash light, you may want to make sure all hoses are secure. See attached.

I'll see that I can get my hands on one of those mirrors and check it tonight. Thanks for the picture. BTW I don't get any codes which I find odd.

 

Sometimes the ECU seems to fail storing codes.
