Default S80 motor swap in '97 850 GLT

hello all,
I was curious as to if the S80 twin turbo motor would fit in a '97 850 GLT (turbo). I'm aware that there would be fabrication neccesary but I was wondering how much would actually be needed, or if the motor would bolt up to the 850 transmission at all. Any help on this subject would be extremely helpful, thank you.

Hi Sam,

As I'm not into mods, I really don't know if it is possible to load S80 engine onto 850. I can only assume that the engine mounts are located differently, as well as engine-to-transmission mating surface as you noted. You will also need different ECU, which may not fit onto 850 without an adapter.

Other members should be able to help you on this better than I could.

Regards,

JPN

I would check out the Volvospeed forums as they deal with questions like that better.

This is a slow forum. VS is a fast moving forum.

1. The s80 motor will not bolt up to your 850 trans. That is just a given. Two totally different cars.

2. I'm sure there would need to be some fabrication to make it fit properly. How much fabrication I don't know.

3. Your 850 ecu is totally different then the s80 ecu. They are not swapable.

4. I suggest you get another T5 engine. You will know it will fit for one. Not to mention there are many more modifications out there for it.

The 6 cylinder engine will be to big to fit.
