Sad day for our beloved Volvo
My wife and I purchased our '04 Volvo XC70 brand new almost a decade ago. In the past decade, we have seen the dealership ONCE for a recall on the fuel pump. I have kept our XC70 it in mint condition as it was our pride and joy. Plus, it was our first Volvo!
Labor day weekend my wife was rear ended and thankfully for the most part, walked away from the accident. Just a few days ago we were notified our XC70 is getting totaled by the insurance company. I consider this to be a financial loss for us.
Your wondering, why is this in the 850 section of the forum? Well, I may be forced to sell my '95 T5-R sedan which I have spent countless hours getting it back to showroom condition.
My question to the community, we have narrowed our search to the following vehicles:
1. XC90 T5
2. XC90 V8 (+07 or newer)
3. V70R ('04-07) / not likely but I'm still crossing my fingers
4. BMW 530xi wagon ('06)
Any words of wisdom on the selection?

NO BRAINER: your mrs. is your first priority now; seeing that she recovers OK, both physically and mentally, is what you're concerned about. If she thinks you care more about the car than her, then you guys are headed for divorce court...
The car: like Kfrog said; V70T (with or w/o the R) would be my only choice amongst those options. So get a don't-care-filler car while you search for the right V70...
And selling the T5-R makes no sense; you won't get half of what it's worth and you won't be able to replace it.

About 5 years ago my wife totaled her low mileage, one owner, like new, owner maintained 2001 XC70. The perp ran a red light, had no driver's license but thank heavens did have her father's insurance.
My poor wife looked like she was beat with a baseball bat. Airbags are brutal.
The perp's insurance company told me every story in the book, my car was no good, low value, easy to replace and etc.,
Which of course was all bull****.
I would not take any of that crap and would not settle. It took three months before the weasels finally agreed to pay fair damages.
I took the check, added some boot and bought a 2007 XC70. Wife is still happy.
Moral of the story. Don't let the insurance company take advantage of you. They will try to do so every time.
