SAS Delete
From the gist of what I just read, it is emissions related. It seems to really affect only those when the air pump fails. It will cause 3 check engine light codes (EFI-442 EFI-446 EFI-448) to appear. This will temporarily alleviate this. It only affects 97 and 98 850/s70. This is really just a way to by-pass the air-pump. The ecu can still adjust fuel trim without the air pump. Hope that helps
Volvo calls it SAS.
Secondary air injection (commonly known as air injection, or colloquially smog pump) is a vehicle emissions control strategy introduced in 1966, wherein fresh air is injected into the exhaust stream to allow for a fuller combustion of exhaust gases inside the catalytic converter.
