Default Seatbelt replacement?

Hi all - I just bought a used '97 Volvo 850 and it's in need of a little bit of work. The most pressing concern is the driver's seat belt - I'm not exactly sure what happened, but the seat belt itself is tied on and missing the lap portion, and the interior panel where the seat belt would be is completely missing. The local shop wants about $350 to do this repair - ~$250 for the seat belt and then ~$100 for labor - but this does not include the panel.

Does this sound like a reasonable price range for this? Also, is it possible to get away with replacing the seat belt without replacing the panel? (This is my first Volvo, so hopefully these aren't stupid questions...!)

Go to a local salvage yard and get the parts you need. The price sound fair but if you can't afford it, do it yourself.

Great - thank you for the guidance. I greatly appreciate it. As it turns out, the missing panel wound up in the trunk of the car, and the repair looks pretty doable. Thank you!
