this summer i attempted to recharge the a/c (didn't take). the refrigerant was leaking out of the house while i was attempting to recharge the system. since then i've had a noises coming from the compressor like it was trying to work and now i have a high squeal coming from the belt or one of the pulleys. everything is still functioning fine, it's just making a squealing noise.

does anyone have any idea what might be causing the noise and if i should do anything about it? the belt looks like it's in good shape and i can't visibly see anything wrong with any of the pulleys or the tensioner.

 

The only way you know for sure is to take the belt out, test each pulley by hand, PS and alternator's are usual suspects, but need get down there finding out.
