Small but annoying problem!
I have had my T5 for about 3 weeks now and everything has been sweet until friday last. The heater and air con controls in the centre have always been lit up but now only the left side is lit. Is this a common problem in the 850`s and how easy is it to rectify?
Please dont tell me its a full dash out job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello mate,
I am an illumination kind of guy myself and a non-illuminating control deserves serious penalty[8D].
As for the ECC, take the radio out by pressing on the tabs that are on both sides of the radio and release (just make them pop out by pressing them) both tabs and pull on the radio. Then, from the cavity try to reach up on the metal tangs that arekeeping the ECC in place and gently push the ECC out of its nest. Then, disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the ECC from dash. Then, with a Phillips screwdriver, remove screws and release sometabsby gently prying on them with a flat-blade screwdriver. You will gain access to those ill-destined bulbs. Remove the burnt bulb, take it to anauto parts shop (not sure what kind of shops are available in the U.K) and find the exact match. If it were my car, however, I would replace all bulbs while in there, as there is a good chance that another one goes south pretty soon, and new bulbs are slightly brighter than the old ones. And with the holiday season closing in, I would not drive a car with one burnt-out illumination[8D].
And if I hadsome extra pounds, I may go with LEDs.
My post gets redundant when it comes to certain topics[8D].
Good luck,
JPN

Hi Axel,
My assumption on the subject is that LEDs cost more because of the recent technical changes (high-intensity LEDs, up to 5W), as well as the fact that the substance used for the diode determining the colour, which I'm sure you know more than I do. Also, since they are diodes and not light bulbs, they think they can charge more by saying they are electronic devices[8D].
Will try out the web you've mentioned, thanks.
