While taking my odometer apart per instructions, upon separation of the black dial face from the whitest housing a small metal bracket ( it looks a bit like a chevy logo) that is it's fatter in the middle and thin on the ends and its about an inch and half long fell out. I don't know how to attach a picture . so if anyone can help me here I'd appreciate it

 

the metal bracket is used as spring type clamp to hold the guages in place.the fat part of the bracket goes over the the guage and the ears are bent down in slide into slots in the plastic standoffs next to the guages, providing a clamping action to the guage. don't know how mine came off. but fixed now and so is the odometer.
