Default Sold my wagon, help me pick out a good sedan

I sold me wagon this morning and am now on the hunt for a turbo sedan.

I have found this one that looks the most promising.

http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/1263460847.html

I called and he said its actually the wheels bearing when he took it to have it looked at.

He said that makes noise and needs to be fixed but is drivable. He also said an exhaust hanger broke so that makes noise.

Claims he just bought a new Ridgeline and doesn't need it.

Sound good? I'd probably do the T-belt first thing though, not sure if its been fixed.

136,000 miles on the clock

There's also this one:

Not terribly sure on it. Not sure if I want a 94 because of the lack of OBDII

If anyone knows of one within four hours of South Bend, IN

Let me know!

OOOH, I like the first one better, has lower mileage too. And that 94 does have OBDII. 94 and 95 turbos have OBDII, trust me, I have a 94 turbo and it has it.

Werd.

I talked to the couple who owns the 97 dark green one. They said that the wheel bearing hub is the culprit, but its drivable. Just needs that fixed. An exhaust hanger also broke off, which is an excuse to get my 3" turbo back.

I asked when the timing belt was last done and she said in 2002 at 99,000 miles.

Should I plan on redoing it anyway?

Seems like a good deal provided I can take the timing cover off and see that the belt is good.

I'll plan on doing the PCV system as well.

Sounds like a good car ya?

I think I can go wave $1,500 worth of Benjamins under his nose and he'll take it.

Hell, I only paid $1,600 for my wagon and it turned out to be a good car.

We'll see how this one drives though.

Sounds good to me. Yeah, I would do the repairs just to be safe, might as well. But damn, that's a clean looking 850. Definitely look further into it, and for 1500, not too shabby either.

Yeah.

850's never sell for very much. The ones that do are at dealerships and are astronomically priced. They rarely sell.

Out of curiosity...

How much did the wagon sell for?

Did you remove any mods before selling?

I removed everything except for the intake. Its basically back to stock. So, the other stuff will go on the next car.

I'm not going to disclose what I sold the wagon for, but I was pleased with what I received for it.

If it's not too far for you,

What state are you in?

That looks like a good car.

Why would it need a speed sensor?

I'll send him an email.

I live in Northern Indiana by South Bend. STL is about six hours away.

The one in Chicago that I posted is seeming like a better buy right now. Closer and doesn't need much. I'd want to see how it could drive doing 65 or 70 the whole two hours back before buying it.

How will you know if the wheel bearing is shot? Dangerous to drive on?

I'd like to spend in between $1,500 and $2,500 on an 850. It can be done. I have seen good ones come and go for that price.

I'll be honest and say that I purchased my wagon for $1,600. The only reason i sold it was because I got tired of the wagon and its interior noises.

My 95 GLT was a much quieter ride.

I think I'm going to take another look at this one.

I'm not so sure if I trust the idea of the "wheel bearing" being bad. He said a mechanic checked it out, but who knows if the mechanic exists.

I really like the teal.

i was hoping to get something with lower mileage, but 169k isn't too bad if its been maintained.

By the pics, it looks pretty clean. Interior seems nice, outside is okay.

It looks to be an OBDII car judging by the pic of the center console. Agree?

Haha, your really hooked on that teal color. Agreed though it's in pretty nice shape. Just needs a really good buff, the bumpers and trim pieces need to be treated, and that cheap purple tint needs to come off ASAP.

I am saying screw both of those cars.

I found a 1994 turbo sedan with 147k on the clock. Killer price.

The guy says I am the only person who has called on it.

A/C works, all options work.

What are the odds of it being OBDII?

No.

The CL ad didn't have pics.

He described it as being excellent inside and out.

Its only about a half hour away, so if it seems fine, I'm buying it.

I was hoping to get a 97, but can't be too picky for this price.
