Default some turbo 96 questions

i would like to state that my car will not and has not been driven untill it is compleatly safe to drive(minus all the minor repairs)

1. there is a smell of gas in my car when ever i go to the gas station and it lingers till i have 100 miles till empty and before then it burns gas faster then normal(big problem) Can you even replace an 18gal gastank for the turbo '96?

2. there was a burning smell coming from under the front hood and when i looked over everything i couldnt find the problem(big problem?)

3. just wondering what could cause breaks to wear out more on one front tire then the other.

4. this is minor but im also wondering where to get a new track for my front ashtray someone decided to step on it and only the tracks broken i think

thanks and the rest of my problems were smaller then the ashtray and my dad knows how to fix them my bigest worries are the first two

1) yes, you can replace the fuel tank. My suggestion would be to get a tank at a salvage yard. Buy new fuel tank straps from the dealer (or anyone else who has them....you'll probably never find a decent set used) and use them to put the tank in.

2) not sure on the burning smell....could be a LOT of things. I'm not sayig this to be a smartass....but keep looking for it. Volvos have their own distinct smell....it could be just that. If not, I'd definitely try to find it. you say "burning smell" which isn't very specific. Does it smell like plastic burning, rubber burning, dead animal burning, oil burning...?

3) Brakes (not breaks....sorry pet peeve) wearing more on one axle than the other is almost certainly being caused by a sticking caliper. Replace both and bleed the brake system.

4) ash tray track: get from salvage yard. They'll probably want about 2 billion dollars for one at the dealership.

3. Brakes(im not as sleepy as before when i typed the other post) alright i'll try and have someone who knows how they work put them on insted of my dad he always messes up on them.

4. hah hah i know 2 bil for a plastic track i could probally make outa straws

If it's coming from the vents, it might be something as simple as mold growing on the cabin air filter. The cabin air filter is under the cowl on the passenger side - take it out and see what kind of science experiment is growing on it and replace it. they make them with activated charcoal in them - and that's the route I'd go. Try that and see if it fixes anything.
