Steering Wheel Airbag Compatibility?

Steering Wheel Airbag Compatibility?
I have a '93 and want to upgrade my clunky plastic steering wheel to one of the nicer leather wheels off of a newer 850. I found one at a local junkyard, it is currently attached to a '95-'97 850. I'm pretty sure it was a 1995, but not certain. It is optioned out, but not a GLT; and it has the facelift taillights. I remember reading somewhere here about Volvo changing the airbag plugs/wiring during the 850 model cycle, but cannot seem to find it. I haven't bought the wheel yet. I'm assuming soldering my car's current airbag plug onto the new one is not recommended... It would make driving my 850 much more enjoyable, so any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Edit: I just realized that I could probably mount my current airbag/horn into the newer leather wheel. Does anyone know if Volvo changed the size or design of the airbag/wheel over the years. They seem to be the same until the sporty x70 wheels.

I had to replace my airbag after an accident in my '93. I found a leather wheel from a '96 at the pick and pull for $7.00! The airbags are the same. The only thing that varies is the clock spring connector. But if yours is not broken, you don't have to change it.
The clock spring connection is the same from '93 to '95. It changed in '96 for the OBD II ECM. Other than that, you should be fine with any wheel/airbag from '93 to '97.
Good luck.
