Patient: “Doc, it hurts when I do this.”
Doctor: “Well, don’t do that anymore.”

Sorry, couldn’t resist...

If you greased it up and the noise seemed to go away, is the grease still there?

If the noise happens when you’re pulling out of the driveway with the wheels turned to the right almost all the way, have you tried driving backwards in a full circle to see if the sound happens several times in the circle, or is it only once when you start moving backwards?

When the noise occurs, does it seem to be related to the position of the steering wheel or the reverse momentum? Maybe that’s not clear; does it happen when the wheel spins to a certain position, or maybe when you reach a certain speed? Does the noise occur with the wheel in the same position going forward, or only backward?

When it makes the noise going forward, are the wheels turned or straight? Does it happen once (going forward) after coming to a complete stop, or after you’ve turned the wheels to the right, etc.

I don't think it went away when I greased it. It just doesn't make the noise all the time. I never really backed in a circle, but I did back up and swerve the car from side to side and it didn't do it. It's like when it makes the noise it just does it once and I can not make it do it again, which makes it hard to answer you questions.

It does SEEM to happen only when the wheels is turned to the right though, but not postive that's the only time it will happen. Just so happens I am always turning right backing out of my garage. It's not right when I start going backwards either. More like after I have backed up about 10 feet. It rarely does it going forward, which makes it hard to answer your questions.

Tried to have a come back to "Doc, it hurts when I do this", but not having any luck.

Replaced them when I did the struts early last year. Didn't clunk again this morning, and I tried to make it do it.

I had a caliper that got sticky when parked, then would release with a clunk when I started up. Possibility?
