Strut bearings or??
Im looking at a 1995 850 N/A sedan and Everything is looking good, but the upper front strut mountings are shot. I can actually grab the nut on the top of the strut (in the engine compartment) and move it significantly back and forth. I just figured that this was the strut bearings, but looking at ipd's website, I am unsure if it is the strut bearings, or the rubber mountings for the upper end of the spring Most cars I have worked on just have a bearing/mount that is all one piece, so I'm not entirely sure which one of these things would make the top of the strut wobble?
Thanks.
Thanks.
IDK yet, as I said I havent bought the car yet. I am pretty serious about gettingit since my friend is holding it for me untill I can sell my civic, and I know for sure that it has had the timingdone in the last 25k mi. If I find the struts to be bad (I dont think they are) then I will replace them also, but this is just going to be a DD, so if they look ok, I will justleave em. I may do some suspension upgrades at some point, but for now, Im just gonna fix the spring seatsand drive it.
HelloTuner4life & JPN,
Would a bad spring seat allow for suspension shiftwhilebraking which mightcause the steering to pull to one side or the other which in turn will cause you (the driver) to have to correct the steering to maintain a straight line? The Anvil pulls to the right while braking and I have to counter to the left to maintain a straight line. Nothing heart stopping or dramatic but not a good feeling.
Could aserious dip, almost a pothole I didnt see it until I was on top, well really when I fell in it,while entering a parking lot cause this type of problem?
Pads, rotors, flex lines, calipers and fluidhave all been replaced/changed in the last 90 days but this problem needs to be solved before it snows silly amounts herebecause until this is fixed the thought of the emergency stop and finding the snowy rhubarb is not very comforting.
Thanks for the time.
