Ok so my sunroof got stuck and i had to take it out of the car to fix it. When i removed it i noticed that the rails were lubricated with some kind of grease that i could not identify.
any ideas what it would be?

 

Can't recall, but either lithium or silicone grease should do the trick.

 

I'd use a synthetic lube like Mobil 1 wheel bearing grease. It never dries out. White lithium would be good too. If it jammed up you might want to squirt some oil in there to get it going and grease it for long term lubrication.

I've managed to get a few non functional sunroofs going again just by liberally spraying them with Justice Brothers JB80 or PB Blaster while still in place. Greased them up after they started sliding again.

 

thanks a lot i used the the Mobil 1 and it slides back and forth with no problems now. i have used PB blaster many times on my friends Eagle Talon, but i don't know what the other stuff is.

 

If you have PB blaster than you are good.
