I reported last year that I was getting very poor gas mileage, but did not have any error codes. A few months ago the Check Engine light came on. The error code interprets to "System Rich".
Does anybody have any direct experience with having this same problem. I have cleaned the MAP sensor and renewed vacuum hoses to the Turbo, but no difference.

System rich may be due to...
- Poor spark from the ignition system, usually tune-up past due.
- Faulty MAF sensor. I do not believe there is a MAP sensor on T5.
- O2 sensor feedback problem.
- Engine Coolant Temp sensor feedback problem.
- Induction system trouble (air filter, throttle body, etc...)
It is helpful if you could provide us with the specific code, as there are a few different "rich mixture" codes. Specifying the model year also helps. Try visiting a local Autozone or other franchise partsshops that provide free diagnostic services.
