Default Tailpipe Cover

Is the tailpipe on the exhaust just a cover? Mine is really rusty and looks bad. Can i just buy a exhaust cover for it? It looks like the end is squarish, so would i be able to take the cover off at all? I noticed a screw but havent had a chance to go further with it, just wondering if anyone has done anything about this?

Like you said there is a screw.

Unscrew it and remove the tailpipe.

Then buy a new tailpipe and reinstall it.

Exhaust tip right?

If you're turob, make sure the tip fits up to 2.25".

Yeah its a Turbo, so i would have to get a 2.25" one?

What size is the non-turbo?

You don't have to get a 2.25" one, you could go 2.5", 3" as well. They all come with screws and or should and you just tighten them down.

I just did this on my sister's car. The old bolt broke off when I tried to remove it, but the old tailpipe was so rusty, I literally broke it off with a screwdriver and a small hammer. Then I cleaned up the old pipe end with steel wool and installed the new tip.

Turbo cars have arectangletip while non-turbos have a round tip.

My tip is also ugly looking, I went to Volvo to see if they had one but they told me that all they make now is the round one. Any body have an idea where to find a square one for an 850 Turbo? I live in far Northern Illinois.

^I hate the square ones lol...

To find one, you're probably gonna have to search pretty hard, because square/rectangular isn't exactly a hot trend....

Personally, I like the oval ones...I was gonna pick one up, but it only fit up to 2".
You can find oval/circular tips at your local parts store (Autozone/Walmart(Although my Walmart didn't carry any...)).
