I've been hunting down an oil leak for the past few hours praying it isn't a rear main an I noticed a half circle hole between two mating surfaces. (Attached Pictures) Panicking a bit b/c I've never noticed it before and I'm not sure If it's meant to be there or if something is gravely wrong.

It has to be there so that oil leaking past the rear main doesn't make a puddle in there where the clutch is.
If you do see oil there, just be advised I have two cars which had oil leaking from the rear cam seal (5 minute fix) and it ran down into that area inside, and it could come out that hole. If the rear main leaks, that'll be a 5 hour fix or a 5 day fix instead of a 5 minute fix.
