I took my 94 850 out today to drop it at my independent shop for a complete check out on Monday. It is a raingy raw day in the northeast so of course I turned on the heat for the thirty minute ride. The car really never warmed up. The needle on the temp gauge barely moved two needle widths towards hot. The just befor I got to where I was going the needle moved a third way up and gradually moved backed towards cold when I parked it. I was only getting marginally warm air from the heater. Is this simply a bad thermostat?

 

Sure sounds like it's just a thermostat. Is the coolant leverl where it should be?
