Thermostat Housing problem.
Well I finally did my PCV system this weekend thats another story, but when I did this job I decided to change my thermostat and sensor since old man winter is coming. Problem I had is I got one housing bolt out, but the other would not budge. Its head is not stipped to no end. Any options?

frist try pounding a slightly over sized torx into it.
if that doesnt work, try a nut exractor (once of the things that cuts into the sides of the bolt head.
if that doesnt work, drill away just the head of the bolt (try not to drill off the bolt shaft at all). then take off the housing and vice grips the bolt out.
or..... put the other bolt in and leave it haha

Wait, if the screw is not stripped, you can spray PB Blaster, leave it for a half hour or so, then use 3/8" driver breaker bar.
If it IS stripped, may peace rest.....or:
- Try turning the housing CCW; this usually breaks the torque.
- With a small, sharp chisel & a hammer, aim at the corner of the screw and hit CCW.
- Replace the entire housing, meaning the bottom housing that fits the engine block (consider this as a last resort, and you'll need a square gasket to go with).
- Call your grandma (grandma usually knows everything).
As ultimate options, see attached. Consult EPA for local regulations.

torx fasteners are a great thing. the thing people dont realize is even if it fits, and only has a little wiggle, it isnt the right size. torx are made to fit snugly, so that when you do need to tq down on them you have that stretch, but you still get it out. 90% of torx fastener head failures are due to the wrong size torx bit.
