Timing Belt

Timing Belt
I have a 1993 850 with a 5 speed. Last week I was driving around and the timing belt broke. Took it to the dealership and was told I bent several valves and did a fair amount of damage to the underside of the head. How much work would it be to replace the entire head? If it isn't to bad where could I find a head for relatively cheap and a head gasket etc. also is there any head I can put on to increase performance?

If you get a relacement head make sure you get the combination of head and cam cover. They are milled out of one piece of metal and I have heard of people having problems when the try and use the head from one car and the cam cover from another. You may be better off just replacing the whole engine if you did quite a bit of damage.
