Trip computer ?

RE: Trip computer ?
Hey now,
For that, I'm not sure [:-].
My '94, the Anvil, has never lit up and I do not see anything that would indicate that it should lite up .
If a display, like this, is capable of lighting up you would see something in the owners manual about it as I find mine has a whole lot of info that I pay attention to now that I know. You should NEVERstop learning .
Anyhoo, I've got to figure whether or not I'm going to prep the car tonight or tomorrow as the trim, bumpers and mud flaps REALLY need some[sm=Awwww.gif] lovin'. The shades progress from what used to be grey (now a funky white'ish grey) to a really faded grey [].
Founda posting around here and will try the advice given. Hoping for the best, butI figure that if someone is willing to go before me AND show what they did to get what they got and how they got it, then I can give it a try. [sm=signs007.gif].
I'll be back later this weekend with, I'm hoping, some really good shot of the prep, mask and painting of the trim, bumpers and flaps [sm=smiley16.gif].

The LCD should light. There aretwo bulbs for the display, and I bet the dealer wants $10 each. Radio Shack or equivalent may have the same bulb, or you could bring the bulb to a Honda dealer, as some Honda dealers seem to have the same bulbs.

RE: Trip computer ?
Hey now,
In what years is this display supposed to light up? I've got a '94 and mine doesn't light up and I always wondered about it but thought it was always like that.
Is there a way to repair this ?
Thanks JPN [sm=smiley20.gif].
You always seem to come up with things that I need.I just noticed a bulb, just off center left of the guage, that has just gone out and it's bugging the hell out of me . That and a couple of console bulbs.[&o]
I found a posting here somewhere thst describes the removal and replacement of the bulds but I'm going to need a wattage so I don't screw it up and make it worse .

RE: Trip computer ?
The display should light up on all years. It is very easy to change all of the bulbs - It is a bit tougher to get to them to change them. You need to remove at least half of the screws in the dash cap to get there. I just remove themplus the airbag bolts (Disconnect the battery first, stand on the brake, and wait a few minutes before messing with the airbag)and make it easy and a bit less bloody from hand scrapes.
The main cluster backlight bulbs used to be called W3W lamps, Sylvania dropped that and I think they are now number 2821. You can get them at any chain auto parts store. 3 Watt wedge base bulbs.
I just replaced the odometer gears on the platinum edition and took the opportunity to relamp the entire cluster. I replaced all of the backlight bulbs, the idiot lights, and the back lights on the info display.
A good source for the idiot lights and the info display lights is from here:

My local stealership wanted US $12.00 each for them.
I bought 2 of the 10 packs and it covered the idiot lights and the info panel backlights. I ordered late on a Friday and had them in Monday's mail so they do ship quickly.
The console bulbs on your '94 are different. They were not a "user serviceable part" nor were they a dealer serviceable part. The dealers tell you to buy a new switch. The Radio Shack - I think there are international variants of that brand - part number 272-1092 lamps work great. You need to disassemble the switch and solder the new lamps in. There are a number of contacts and springs that will come flying out of the switch as you take it apart and it takes dexterity to get the switch put back together.
