Default trip computer swap

Hello Everyone,
I have a 96 850 GLT that only has the time and temp display.
I picked up a trip computer on EBAY and am hoping that you just remove the old display and put the new one in.
I would think that all of the wiring harness would be in place it just a matter of plugging in.
But before I pull the dash out does anyone know if it just a swap or do I need more then the dial and display?
I hope to get my engine swap done before I move on to this.

Thanks...Tom

Default Trip computer info...

From all that I have heard you need the display, switch and some programming from the dealer (that is not cheep). I was exploring the same feature with an S70 and come to the conclusion that if I was not willing to shell out the bucks to the stealership, i need to get the www.SpeedGuage.com.

Same here. I just put the display in, the switch and the harness. I did have to get the harness from the switch to display from swedishengineering or someone but it was all plug and play, no programming needed.
Mine was on a 97 850.

Can this be done with a 1995 850? I was thinking of doing this but I am not sure. Any help would be great!

When you say it must be the right one for my car, what do you mean? It must be from a 1995 or it must be from an 850 or? Thanks

I believe it must be for a 850.

You have to watch there is like 4 different ones. There is 2 different brands of speedo clusters. And I think the 94 is different from the 96. So you have to make sure you get it from the year matching yours.
