Hello. I just purchased a '96 ..850..The trunk strut(hook) clips that thread onto the piston rods have broken. Does anyone know of a source for the clips without having to purchase the entire strut. The struts look new but the clips are toast.[:'(] That is one HEAVY TRUNK LID!!

I don't think they sell them seperate.
Try a Junk yard for some junk ones and get the clips from them.

 

And when you install the rod, make sure to exert force from inside car, not from the trunk side. Remove shoulder paddings from the rear seats so you can get access. Press down directly on the claws. If you try to press down on the rod from the trunk side, either the rod will bend or the claw will break. Also, when you open the heavy lid, do not open it too high, which will also break the claw.
