Unburnt fuel smell
HI all long time since ive been here - update - got my ard green tune pushin 17 1/2 psi @2850 rpm problem is i cant find the where the fuel smell is coming from. havent retarded the timing 3 deg on intake and exhaust yet - dont quite know how, need advice on finding fuel smell -- dont say use a match thanks.
I had an accident in my baby - no body damage- but lost 3 wheels @110 mph from road debris off a ****ing semi, and ended up in hospital 6 days later from internal bleeding, perforated stomach and torn upper intestine- hemoglobin count supposed to be 14 - mine was 4 - needed 6 pints of blood and emergency surgery - heart stopped 2wice coz it was almost empty - but i survived--- any way fuel smell and timing help would be nice - if i do timing will smell stop?

hi dont know if you still looking for the answer but i read somewhere that due to bad design volvo s70 and 850 has problem with their fuel pump. you can smell the gas smell in the cabin after couple minutes driving. The solution suggested was bringing it to the dealer and they will adjust that for free. I dont have that problem but i am curious to see how yours goes. (Just like the early 1995s 850 has a recall problem about their car jack not sufficient enough to handle the weight of the car and the result is bring back to the dealer so they can replace that to a better model) hope this helps

I'd call the people who did your tune and ask them about the raw fuel smell after WOT. It might just be a normal condition from letting off the throttle rapidly. I doubt that but you never know. That's kind of a stretch since having enough raw fuel you can smell it going through the cat would overheat it and possibly melt the catalyst and plug the exhaust. Well unless your tune included a cat delete and you are not running one. Then it could be a normal condition it's just odd you'd smell it inside the vehicle if it was moving.
Do you have any modifications you didn't tell the turner about ?? Bigger injectors or higher pressure fuel pressure regulator.
I'd still cover the basics and do a good visual inspection of the line from the injectors all the way back to the tank too.
I had a recurring intermittent smell after doing my regulator. Turned out I had a line fitting just weeping enough that once in a while the heat/AC fan would pull gas fumes into the cabin.
The other thing I'd check is around the tank. Maybe you have a leak someplace and it's the jostling of the fuel when you let off and start to brake that sloshes the fuel around enough to get some to leak out. Just taking a shot in the dark.
