Vacume Reading and tranny
I have a 94 850 turbo my vacume gauge quit working so I installed an aftermarket gauge on the A Pillar. At an idle with the car in nuetral, I get about 16 lbs of vacume. When I take my foot off the gas to back off the engine it pops back to 20 lbs maybe 20.5 is that normal? I thought it was a little low. Thinking it should be normally between 17 to 21 at idle. The car burns no oil, indication of bad rings, nor does it have an drivabilty issues. A mechanic told me that turbo cars generally run somewhat lower vacume all around so the old 17-23 rule doesn't apply. Anyone agree?
I have been going crazy with my tranny because after having the RMS replaced last February, I began to notice a clunky shift, not a slip, in the tranny. I thought it was going out. I checked my tranny myself, the proper way, hot with the engine idling and discovered it was two quarts low. I topped it off and the shifting improved a lot.
I noticed that the front tranny mount is shot and the wobbly mount was making the bumpy shifts. Groten sells them on ebay for 31 bucks.
I wonder how many times this has been misdiagnosed?
