Volvo 850 97
I have a 97 volvo 850 with a blown engine. I do not know much about cars but just wondering how much it would cost to get this car up and running? My dad replaced an engine in a different 850 we had. We bought the engine for about 600 and then he put it in himself. He does not have the time for that anymore so any ideas?
Do they revamp the wiring system when they do that? The wiring is a little off from the last guy who had the car. The fuse box looks funny. This was causing AC compressor to not kick off and on and then cause the fan to quit working then the car overheated.

It is pretty expensive. I think Book time is like 20 hours to replace the motor.
They would have to charge seperate for the wiring unless they were really nice and decided to fix it for Free.(Usually not)

If you insist on keeping the car, I would talk to your dad and see if he could give you guidance & let you use equipment & tools to install an engine. This may take a few weeks if you are not familiar with working on a car, but could be a self-learning project. If, however, you do not feel comfortable with safety then you could pay your dad to see if he could work on it little-by-little on his days off?
The wiring mess sounds intimidating, though.
