turbo/vacuum system theory. HELP
2001 S60 T5 turbo. Having some real problems with the Turbo, PCV. Can someone please provide a description of the entire Turbo/PCV system. How do I test the vacuum system to determine where the real problem is? We replaced the breather, and several hoses. The intake nipple was clogged. The Turbo has no boost at all. and there is a low pitched vacuum, or intake noise, or maybe the turbo is barely spinning? It is hard to tell.
How do we test the waste gate & compressor valves? Same with the purge valve? CAr still drives, just no boost, and noisy. Sometimes the low pitch whine goes away, and there are valve open/closing noises......help. I suspect a vacum problem but don't know how/what to test.

I looked at Vadis on E-bay, but was confused as to which one I needed. Is there a procedure for testing the waste gate and compressor vacuum actuators & solenoids on Vadis?
The check engine light has been on since the PCV nipple clogged. Was able to correct that a while ago, and then the Turbo boost dropped, started making noises. I need to pull codes at a friends, but would like to determine the noises/vac/boost before going there.
One of the new (replacement) large diameter vac hoses was split lengthwise. Like it burst from too much pressure. The one that goes from the inline check valve, to the intake manf. to the air intake. Very odd.
Where do I put the T to measure boost?

Vadis should have it. It might be hard to find in there though. Look for the 2005 version of it.
On the intake you should have a small connection on the drivers side. Remove the hose and connect that to the T then add another hose from the T to the intake.
Vacuum should be around 15 to 20 at idle and boost might be between 5-7 psi.
But depending on what codes you have that might be holding the boost back.

My dad got four discs with his copy.
Look over on the UK version for they are usually cheaper.
You really only need the one disc the other are bonus cds, but on has a wiring diagram thing, but I never checked it out yet, nor have even need it yet.

2001 s60 T5, 2.3L turbo
We pulled codes today. Were able to clear them & they didn't come back. they are:
P1139 Air Flow control
P1238 Air Flow control
P0455 Evap
History:
Turbo blowing SMOKE. Clogged PVC system/oil trap- replaced all pcv hoses & trap. Smoke stopped.
No turbo boost, turbo making LOTS of noise, bearings shot? some intermittant smoke again.
Measurements:
red compressor (boost?): 0psi
blue hose to turbo solenoid: 0psi
yellow waste gate: 0psi
Fresh air hose: 0 psi
Manifold Vacuum: 15-20psi

The P1238 code has to do with the Turbo control system.
So you never go into positive pressure correct?
Then maybe it is time to pull the fresh air hose off the front of the turbo and check the turbo and make sure it isn't seized or something else isn't wrong. I have seen the shaft for the turbines snap in half before as well on some turbo's.
