Default What do you think about this Volvo 850? Is it ok?

Hey guys, I'm still looking to buy an 850 and have found one for sale and I'm seriously considering going to get it (even though it's in NYC).
It's 94 NA (vin has 55 in it) and has 150,000miles
The only problem i can tell with it are a rip in the driver's seat and a discolored fender(hardly noticeable).
Can you guys take a look at it's engine bay pic and tell me if you see anything wrong with it? It has a sports filter (maybe OEM) and the horns are a little strange, haven't seen those on a 850 before.

One of my questions is - what is that aluminum pipe right behind the air filter? The one that's not connected to anything!
The car also has the Euro-Clear turning signals.

It is a trade-in at a dealership and they don't know anything about the service history, apart from the fact that it's a one-owner.

What do you guys think?

Aftermarket horns. That metal hose in the background is to let hot air from the exhaust to warmup the intake temps. It is for Emissions. No records......that sucks. Wait for others to comment.

Here are all the pictures of the car: http://www.ecarlist.com/showroom/144.../278469#07.jpg

What do you guys think? I know it has its faults - the fender, the seat and I jsut noticed the fron left tire has a bulge and will have to be replaced ASAP.

Is this from the factory? Is this normal?

yes that metal hose is factory.it would normally connect to the air box.but since you do not have one it is just sitting there. the air from the exhaust circulates back into the engine bay to heat it up on cold starts...i would try to point it away from the cold air intake so that it doesnt turn into a hot air intake...

What do you think about the interior - is this the stock carpet (two-tone...weird), and the passenger seat seems to be regular non-power seat - I thought all 850s had both seats powered.

Also if I do get it, is it possible to install a Turbo model spoiler on it?

YEs, with the tan interior....over time the tan carpets start to turn pink. Mine has it a little.. Honestly, depending on the price, that will tell u if you should get it or not... If you are looking for transportation, then this is it. If you are like some, and want to modify it, then I would pass.. just depends on what you are looking for. When I was looking for an 850, I knew the seats were an issue with 90% of them. They all have some sorto of cracking. I think you should be patient. If I was looking for one, i would pass on this one and I say that because the leather isn't as nice as I would want it, but I am that obsesive when it comes to cars! Good Luck on your find!

Very similar to my green 95 850 Turbo; the cracked seats were almost a deal breaker for me, too, but as my second car, I got over it. I've been very pleased with this, my first Volvo. I recently gave up my 97 Honda Accord w/181,000 and $1400 cash for my 95 Volvo 850 Turbo w/82,000 miles. Maybe too much, but I'm happier w/ the Volvo.

Okay guys. The car was on a eBay auction and I won it!
Final price $2,325. I think I got a good deal.
I'm going to get it this Saturday.
