Default volvo 850 reverse intercooler

is the reverse intercooler pipe kit for the volvo 850 worth having does it actually reduce intake temps and increase throttle response? don't mean worth having for the price just is there any benefit over the stock pipes? grateful for any help or advice offered thanks.

From what I've read, mostly stock system, no.

If you were doing something custom, bigger turbo, bigger intercooler and bigger piping "they" seem to think yes.

It's been discussed more over on Volvospeed.

Supposedly it takes 14" length out of the intake stream which increases response. Supposedly.

The first 850's turbos came factory with a RIP. Some people still have that setup. I dont know Volvos reason for changing direction but the thought was to control the PCV vent oil that made its way into the intake from saturating the intercooler so they introduced the entering oil at the bottom where it can drain off and exit the small hole at the bottom of the intercooler. Nothing official, only a theory.
