Default I think i found the culprit!!!

Hi guys, i think i found my culprit....i took off the heat shield from above the manifold and noticed the there where a few welds added to the manifold, there is a pic with my finger pointing down to a spot between the 2 pipes that has a crack in it. when i reved the engine there seemed to be a spot from underneith the manifold where a puff of smoke came out..
In terms of manifolds, is there a difference between the 10V and the 20V engine..i believe i have the 10V one...what does a new manifold go for? thanks

$284, but it's Scantech.

Eeuroparts.com doesn´t carry it.

You could probably just get a working exhaust manifold from a junkyard and that would be fine.

Look on the sticker under the hood. It should say engine family and have a number like the following.
I believe the B5202 and 5252 are the 10 valve and the B5204 and 5254 are the 24 valves.

I forget the exact translation but it goes something like this
5204 I know the 5 is for 5 cylinders and the 4 is 4 valves per cylinder. But I forget what the middle 2 numbers stand for. Maybe someone else knows and will fill in my blanks.

Or what is the 6th and 7th digits of your Vin#?

So was the muffler shop able to fix this, or are you going with a new/salvaged manifold?

Hello Chef,

Where about in Canada are you located? Me, I am in the Ottawa Valley.

That price, unfortunatly, sounds close to what I was quoted a whille back when I had an exhaust leak which in the endturned out to be a gasket leak [:'(].

Welcome to the Wonderful World Of Volvo. Where the ride is high and the bank account is low.[]

I am constantly looking for all sorts of things for The Anvil and have found that it is hard to find parts that do not require your social insurance number, date of birth and a refference from your employer [sm=smiley36.gif]

Keep looking and let me know what you find and I'll do the same because it never hurts to help.

Hello Chef,

I am just north west of Ottawa.

When I was young I used to live at 5739 at the corner of Rue St-Urbain and Rue Bernard. A long time ago, well not that long(LOL). And I was born there as well some time back.

Sweet to talk
to another habitant and as I get a few more of the critical parts, to me anyway, replaced I gotta keep cool and keep the payments for parts coming until I am done. Then it is going to be touring time.

I am almost certain that I will be in town around the first of August, with a little luck, and if I can I will drop you a line before I take off from here.

And before you ask, I lost mon francais a long time ago and I have been trying to pick it up here and there but this is a small town and people are, and no offence to them, a little
rednecked and it is hard. If you do not use it you lose it. LOL.
