I wouldn't be surprised if that was true when they were introduced, but I'm guessing now it's fallen down in the ranks quite a bit. The 850s were definitely performance vehicles back in the 90s.

 

Yeah they're real fast... when they run.

These 850's are very complex and 12 to 16 years old.

 

Not nearly as complex as 98 and on V70's and if you tear them down and rebuild the important parts then you have a car that feels like new and is still not too complex.

 

Back in 94 when I got my first 850 Turbo there was an article in Motor Trend titled "Cars That Will Do 140 mph For Less Than $40K".

They used a Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon in the test. It was the only FWD car on the list and came in #7 at 152 mph.
